5 Things I LOVED in K-pop: 4/8 – 4/14
We’re half way through April and with it we had a fresh crop of new music ranging from Zion T‘s “Babay” to C.N. Blue‘s “Blind Love” to PSY‘s highly anticipated come back with “Gentleman.” There were new K-dramas and new developments in upcoming K-dramas as it was announced that C.N. Blue‘s Jung Yonghwa will be the other male lead in Lee Min-ho‘s upcoming K-drama Heirs. He’ll be once again joining Park Shin-hye in a drama, which will make it 3 for 3 for him with her as his female lead. This will no doubt start the dating rumors up again (although at last gossip he was dating Seo-hyun again because they live in the same building). Heirs will be a 20 episode drama for SBS and debut in October of this year–I’m gonna be in sappy high school rom-com drama heaven. We also had teasers of new K-varieties that have the potential of being awesome … it’s a good time to be a K-pop fan.

The following are the top 5 Things that happened in K-pop last week that I thought were a bit more special than the rest. If you’re not up-to-date on your K-pop and don’t like spoilers turn back now or forever hold your peace.
5. A Little Privacy, Please..
2AM were the guests on this week’s Saturday Night Live Korea and while there were many laughs, some skits definitely were better composed than others. This skit which involved Seulong and some overzealous fans was funny–only with the hopes that nothing similar would ever happen in real life–but I’m pretty sure they have.

4. Siwan’s a bit Stiff
On this week’s episode of We Got Married, it was a bit of a trip down memory lane as Kwanghee and Sunhwa prepared for their departure from the show. While they were looking at pictures that recorded their times together they were also visited by some of their members and friends including 2PM‘s Taec. Kwanghee got Taec to do a bit of “My Ear’s Candy” with Hyosun and then got Hyosun to do the same bit with Siwan–big difference. Siwan looks adorable, but the boy is super stiff and need to loosen up his hips or something. He kind of looks like a young prissy girl trying to dance-although they say he dances like an ahjummah. I now need to go back and watch some ZE:A videos to see if he really dances like this or if it’s an act. Although he did dance like this once before on the show…

3. Singing Somebody’s Dream
There is A LOT of talent this year on The Voice Korea Season 2. The battle for Shin Seung-hun‘s team this week for the KO round was between Bae Doo-hoon and Kim Hyun-soo. For their face off, they sang Spring Summer Fall Winter‘s “Someone’s Dream” (most of you might remember hearing this song in Dream High). It was a great rendition and performance by the pair with Bae Doo-hoon picked as the winner by Shin Seung-hun, but this week there’s a happy ending as Kim Hyun-soo also made it through as he was selected by Baek Ji-young as part of her team.

2. Getting caught up in the tale of the Gu Family Book
Been in a bit of a K-drama slump, so the arrival of Lee Seung-gi and Suzy‘s Gu Family Book has been a welcome addition to my K-drama repertoire. The first two episodes brought a beautiful, but tragic story to life for us and after having such a heartbreaking start things can only look up for the next generation, right?

1. Lee Kwang-soo Scandalous
Running Man‘s beloved ‘giraffe,’ Lee kwang-soo, got caught in a few compromising positions on the latest episode with… a giraffe. The cast and crew ,along with guests Eun Ji-won and SNSD‘s Jessica, visited an animal park in their mission to become the King of Beasts. In trying to complete his task of getting a fellow giraffe to pick ‘O’ to his question, Kwang-soo got a little to up close and personal to a fellow giraffe.
